A vibrant Academy within the Kings Norton area of Birmingham, Fairway Primary obtained funding to update tired looking WC facilities that were not fit for purpose.
Typical of schools of a certain age, the toilets were dated and needed a lot of attention. Following a competitive tender process, we were appointed to improve facilities for both children and academy staff.
A total of 7 toilets were completely remodelled and refurbished. We removed asbestos, replaced flooring, ceilings, lighting and windows, installed extraction and cubicles and sanitary ware suited to user groups. We also made improvements to water systems and lighting that were more efficient, generating both energy and cost savings for the future.
Our team were challenged when damage to old drainage systems was discovered, however we were able to provide a fast solution to ensure the project was unaffected.
In order for the school to operate with minimal disruption, a lot of the project was primarily completed outside normal hours, during evenings and weekends, however, the project was completed on time and crucially there were no unanticipated costs to the client and the project was delivered within budget.
The refurbished toilets presented a modern and professional finish and most importantly, the new facilities were safer and better suited to the school.
